## About the Role
SAIC is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Sr. Software Systems Engineer (C#/.NET Developer) to support EDI transaction processing, backend API development, and cloud-native systems on AWS. This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on healthcare data flows, including high-volume EDI transactions, backend services, databases, and cloud-based applications.
The role involves designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-level applications while collaborating with software development teams and stakeholders in an Agile environment. This is a 100% remote, full-time position based in the United States, with the position identified for remote work in Texas.
## Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and maintain C#/.NET and AWS backend services supporting high-volume healthcare EDI transactions, including 837 and 835 transactions.
* Parse, validate, and transform X12 EDI documents.
* Debug complex transaction-level issues involving payers, clearinghouses, and trading partners.
* Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL stored procedures, including query analysis, execution-plan troubleshooting, performance tuning, and complex data transformations.
* Query, parse, and manipulate structured XML data within MSSQL and XML object stores.
* Develop clean, testable, well-documented software and actively participate in code reviews.
* Contribute to shared platform libraries and services supporting multiple product initiatives.
* Perform technical planning, high-level and detailed requirements definition, and test planning and execution with team members and stakeholders.
* Participate actively in daily stand-ups and Agile software development activities.
* Deploy and support applications while maintaining performance, quality, and responsiveness.
* Provide development support for solutions deployed to production.
* Build long-term software solutions and reusable components within an Agile framework.
* Apply and promote software engineering best practices.
* Use development tools and IDEs including Visual Studio and Git.
## Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline.
* 8+ years of professional software development experience using C#/.NET technologies.
* Proven experience working on complex software projects and leading development initiatives.
* Experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-level applications.
* Strong proficiency in the C#/.NET ecosystem.
* Experience developing backend applications using design and integration patterns.
* Strong SQL skills, including stored procedures, execution-plan analysis, performance tuning, and MSSQL.
* Experience with MSSQL or similar relational databases.
* Experience with database design and development, including SQL Server and Entity Framework.
* Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
* Understanding of CI/CD practices and tools such as AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
* Knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, or MSTest.
* Proficiency with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a large development team.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality software.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively using JIRA.
* Experience with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (IaC).
* Ability to conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
* Experience with application performance tuning and optimization.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
## Preferred Qualifications
* Hands-on AWS experience with serverless computing, messaging, storage, and database services.
* Knowledge of microservices and event-driven architecture.
* Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS, or EKS.
* Experience with healthcare payer or PBM systems, clearinghouses, or pharmacy operations.

## Compensation
* Target salary range: $80,001–$120,000 USD.
